Expanding To New Frontiers: Lime Crime

Business is booming for LimeCrime and the cosmetic industry in general. Ever since its inception back in 2008, the company has skyrocketed straight to the top thanks to its fascinating new style. This company was founded by Doe Deere, and it offers lipsticks, lip topper, hair dye, foundation and lip gloss products. It also uses some of the most diverse color-combinations on the market. This includes:

  • Salem
  • Utopia
  • Pink Velvet
  • Red Velvet
  • Saint
  • Mercury
  • Moonstone
  • Rave
  • And numerous others

This only scratches the surface in totality, but LimeCrime has taken its act to an international level. China is the new frontier for business, but China hasn’t been the most accommodating. When it comes to wholesale cosmetics, China has a strict rule for testing the products on animals. This was the first issue because LimeCrime is totally against animal-testing. Kim Walls, Global General Manager, stated that “the company had to adopt a distinct approach for launching in China.” One of the ways for by-passing this distraction was to ship directly from the United States into China.

Though the process may sound easy, but this process comes with many taxes and fees. On top of that, the company would have to deal with international-returns and customer- inquiries. The logistics of doing business like this can be very frustrating to say the least. By partnering with Revolve, the company has been able to launch in China via Revolve’s e-commerce platform. This hub was heaven sent because both companies share the same perspective, and Revolve is looking to venture into the beauty sector of business. Since LimeCrime has a huge social media following, new and old customers will get a chance to view Revolve’s platform. In the end, everything is working out well, but only the future will tell what’s next.
