How Chris Burch Created the World’s Best Resort in Less than Three Years!

In 2012, Mr. Burch teamed up with his business partner and friend, James McBride work on a five-star resort in Indonesia. The duo seeks to cash in on the billion dollar travel and tourism industry in the fourth most beautiful country in the world. By 2015, the 5-star tropical resort officially opened to the public. It was called the Nihiwatu. Nihiwatu means, ‘The edge of wilderness.’

Chris Burch’s World Famous Resort

In his nearly 40 year career as an investor and serial entrepreneur, Chris Burch has broadened his portfolio to make room for a luxury resort on the Indonesian island of Sumba.

Partnering with proprietor and land owner James McBride, the two purchased the island paying out $30 million refurbishing and restoring the lodging into a five-star resort called Nihiwatu, nicknamed The Edge of Wildness.

The name means “mortar stone” as the beach was initially named after a rock configuration.

Nihiwatu has 27 private villas with prices for a one-bedroom starting at $750 a night. All meals, Wi-Fi Internet, a mini bar, activities by sea such as stand-up paddle boarding are included in the room rate.

Two, two-story tree houses with a bedroom, bathroom and balcony, are also on hand.

What’s more, Chris Burch’s residence, Raja Mendaka, which includes a main house and four additional villas, is available to guests with prices roughly $14,000 a night.

Amenities include a beach spa, wellness center that makes daily group yoga and private yoga sessions available as well as surfing and surfing lessons, hiking and fishing. Pleasure trips, such as to a blue lagoon where guests can leap off the rocks and plunge into the water to swim, is another service that is readily available.

For the horseman and beginners, riding stables are on the grounds. Guides are at the guests disposal as the team offers sunset beach horse-riding trips. And a resident horse whisperer teaches guests to come together and communicate with the horses.
